Day 1: History and Waterfalls

 

· 6:00 AM: Pick up from your hotel in Pattaya.

· 10:45 AM: Arrive at River Kwai Station to board the local train. Experience the thrilling ride over the iconic Bridge on the River Kwai and take in the breathtaking views of the Kanchanaburi countryside.

· Lunch: Enjoy a delicious meal at a restaurant overlooking the serene River Kwai.

· Afternoon: Visit the Hellfire Pass Memorial Museum. Walk through the deep cut of the pass, a powerful and somber tribute to the POWs who built the Death Railway.

· Next Stop: Explore the natural beauty of the Erawan Waterfalls, a stunning seven-tiered waterfall. It's the perfect place for a refreshing swim and to take amazing photos.

· 6:00 PM: Check in to your hotel. The evening is free for you to relax, enjoy dinner, and have drinks at your leisure.

 

Day 2: Bridges, Tigers, and Home

 

· Morning: After breakfast at the hotel, we will take a walk across the River Kwai Bridge for a different perspective and more photo opportunities.

· Next: Visit the Allied War Cemetery, a beautifully maintained and moving memorial to the thousands of prisoners of war who lost their lives during the railway's construction.

· Late Morning: Journey into the mountains to visit the Tiger Temple, where you can see its famous inhabitants and enjoy the beautiful surrounding countryside.

· Return: Depart Kanchanaburi and begin the journey back to Pattaya.

We chose The Davenport Cafe primarily for its spacious setting and its reputation for beautiful views of the River Kwai, and it absolutely delivered on both fronts.

 

The atmosphere is the true highlight here. The cafe offers ample seating, both indoors and outdoors, so you're guaranteed to find a comfortable spot. The real draw is the picturesque, uninterrupted view of the river, which makes for a incredibly relaxing and scenic dining experience.

 

The menu is extensive and impressively varied, offering something for everyone—whether you're in the mood for local Thai dishes, Western classics, or just a coffee and cake. We found the food to be genuinely delicious and well-prepared. Coupled with the quality, the prices are very reasonable, offering great value for money.
